Some parents dread bedtime every night. Understandably so, because fighting with tired children isn't how most people like to end their day. That's why we try to make bedtime a fun time at the end of the day when both kids can get some extra attention from Mommy and Papa.
After teeth have been brushed, the potties have been flushed, diapers have been changed, and the pyjamas have been put on, it's time for storytime. Rob and I usually alternate every night with stories, but we've recently discovered that it can be quite fun reading different charachters together. And now that Lucas is getting older, he gets to join in too sometimes!
After the story has been read, Max usually gets to stay up for another 15-20 minutes "reading" his own book. Normally he falls asleep by himself, but we, just like every other parent have to deal with, "I'm thirsty, I need to potty, my finger hurts, there is a dinosaur under my bed, etc." All of these questions result in a, "You've already had your last drink, you've already gone to the potty, your finger wouldn't hurt if you would have stayed in bed, and there is NO DINOSAUR under your bed!" But alas, our sweet Max has a new question. "Mommy, will you please take a picture of us?" That's one question I just can't say no to!
